Witness
one of Maui's phenomenal sunrises from the top
of Haleakala, then just when you think it can't
get any sweeter, embark on a leisurely 38 mile
downhill bike ride. On your descent, you'll see
close-up scenic wonders that people in cars rarely
notice. Bike It Maui does a great job in providing
a family-style tour with little extras like a
stop at a protea flower farm and a full breakfast
after the ride at Charley's in Pa'ia.

Aloha, Petra:
I am a pretty picky person while I select a merchandise from web sites. After hours search, I chose your company because of good information and the reasonable price. Although the sun didn't show its morning glory and drizzle made us wet at Sept. 13, 2007, I am very happy to let you know we did use a right company to experience our fantastic and thrilling bike ride from the top of Mount Haleakala. In very deed, my group sincerely thank Billy and Kevin for their good safety instructions and cautious lead. Billy's environmental knowledge and local language made the trip more interesting and Kevin's van protection behind us was very well done. Breakfast after ride (included in the package) was gigantic and delicious. Besides, we gained extra one hour sleep time in comparing with the arrangement made by other company. In future, I am willing to recommend my friends to use the BikeItMaui company for their downhill bike tour at Maui.
Thank you for your services.

My husband Owen was the senior in the group (76), and truly loved the experience. He will talk about it for years to come.
The driver Billy was so good at his job, and my husband was really impressed with him. Tell Billy Hello from his sailing buddy, Owen.

We just wanted to thank Billy and Kim for the most fantastic experience biking down Haleakala. The sunrise was spectacular and the ride down the thrill of a lifetime. Breakfast at Charley's was named "best breakfast of the vacation" by our entire party. That's saying a lot since we were staying at a five star hotel. The operation and equipment, especially those warm coats, was first rate. Mostly we want to say how knowledgeable and personable Billy and Kim were. It was a pleasure spending time with them, it felt like old friends sharing a loved experience with us. Hope to see you next year.
A warm thanks for the memories,

Aloha Bike It Maui,
We
just wanted to say that we had a great time on our
bike ride! We were on the August 14th ride. Haleakala
was awesome and the views were incredible. Kim and
Dave were our guides and they made the trip great.
They both made us feel safe and allowed us to have
fun on our ride. I
was lucky enough to be the first in line behind Dave
and really got my very own personal tour and learned
a lot of Maui fun facts! We couldn't stop talking about
the ride when we got home. We recommended you guys to
our friends and they have already booked their bike trip
for their upcoming honeymoon. This bike trip was one
of the highlights of our vacation!! We just found out
we brought back a lifelong souvenir from Maui, nope don't
worry not the lava rock, but we are going to have our
first baby. We are still deciding between naming it Aloha
or Haleakala or even Dave =)
Thanks again for a great time!

and the ride down was equally as exciting.
Let
me commend you on the safety aspect of the trip. The guides
were terrific in keeping safety out #1 priority. As we
were gearing up at the top it was obvious that we were
being taken care of more so than several of the other
groups that took off down the hill. Safety talks were
given during the ride up, and at the summitt as well.
While the guys preached safety, they made the lecture
enjoyable...rather than something that most people would
tune out. Kudos to Dave, Robb and everyone at Bike It

as driver & rider; enjoyed the tidbits of island history
& current events and brunch at Charley's to wind up

they put us in the van, we stayed in the van).
I was somewhat apprehensive (I'm a bit

Dear Petra,
Bernard
and I would both like to thank you, Wuan and Rob for our
Guided Sunrise Bike Tour to the top of Mt. Haleakala.
It was by far the highlight of our entire three week trip
to Hawaii to three islands. We found Rob and Wuan to be
professional, experienced and very informative. They also
made the drive up the mountain and the bike ride down
lots of fun. They obliviously enjoy their work. There
is nothing in the world like being at the top of Haleakala
at sunrise. The sun was spectacular! It looked like a
diamond as it rose above the clouds far below. Nothing
could prepare us for the incredible orange and red colour
of inside the crater as the sun hit it. And then the ride
down, words can hardly explain braking as we went into
the curves and then riding the curve as we looked far
(almost 11,000 feet to the valley below! I have never
seen views like I saw that day. It was exhilarating and
the view was outstanding. We felt safe under the guidance
of Wuan and Rob who always kept our safety in mind. It
was so nice when we stopped having Wuan suggest that I
stand on the front of Bernard’s bike and balanced
on his shoulders! Wuan took a picture of us posed like
that! There was nothing like the aromatic smell of the
eucalyptus trees as we descended to 7000 ft. We really
enjoyed the stop at the proteus flower farm. The flowers
were gorgeous!
And
the brunch at Charley’s in Paia was delicious. You
could just picture the hippies of the 60s visiting there.
No wonder it was and is Willie Nelson’s favourite
hangout. And the macadamia nut pancakes were delicious!
Rob dared us to eat all of them and no one even got through
half.
If
anyone our age (50s) thinks that the ride is just for
the younger ones, you are very wrong!! As it was all downhill,
we The bikes are sturdy, comfortable in fact the widest,
most comfortable seats we have ever ridden on.
Thanks
so much Petra for mailing my coat to me on the Big Island.
That was so kind. I didn’t expect that you would
cover the cost of sending it too. That was way beyond
the call of duty. It came in handy when we got home as
it was about 20 degrees F back in Ottawa, Canada!
We
fell in love with Maui. It was our favourite island. When
we talk about it, we don’t say “if”
we return, we say “when”. Next time, we would
like to go on a tour of the crater too.
Again
thanks so much for the lasting memories of the Guided
Sunrise bike tour. We will make sure to tell all our friends
travelling to Hawaii that the bike ride is a must.

for a great start to our Maui vacation. What an experience!
I had not been on a bike in almost 20 years so I was more
than a little nervous. Having gotten up at 2am the first
day (night?) I was also questioning my sanity... but-WOW.
No words can describe. A beautiful full moon was going
down on one side while the sun was climbing over the clouds
on the other. The big dipper was hanging so close it looked
like it was about to ladle water out of the dark and dreaming
pacific.
As the sun peaked over the clouds it lit them on fire.
It was like watching the sun come up on the moon. The
ride down (once I relaxed the death grip on my brakes)
was incredible. Riding through the mist, seeing a rainbow,
smelling the eucalyptuys trees...thanks for making us
such wonderful memories!

fantastic time with Bike It Maui. What an awesome experience
it was
watching the sunrise over Mt. Haleakala despite how cold
it was up there!!
Lucas, our driver, was so cool and Dave, our bike leader,
was awesome. I
was a little nervous at first so Dave kept me right behind
him all the way
down. Dave is a great leader. His knowledge and years of
experience kept
us safe and made it fun. We met some wonderful couples and
in fact, one
was from NYC also. The breakfast at Charley's was a welcome
addition
considering we were up well before the birds and it was
delicious. Lucas
gave us a little tour of the pineapple plantation and showed
us Willy
Nelson's home in Paia before heading back. Overall, it was
one of the best
activities we did in Maui and I'm sure I can speak for all
of us as a group
that Bike It Maui is the way to go! I'm sorry I didn't get
to meet you
Petra, as you sounded so perky and personable over the telephone.
Please
give our best to Lucas and Dave and thank them again for
a memorable
experience. Mahalo and Hang Loose!!!!

Dear Petra,
My family and I booked through Bike It Maui June 21st and
Koko and Dave
were our tour directors. I must say Petra that Bike It Maui
was the highlight
of our vacation and that Koko and Dave are the reasons for
this. Koko and
Dave made the entire experience very enjoyable for my family
and even Koko's
singing (although he is no Frank Sinatra) was very entertaining
and made all of
us lauyh. We have already recommended several of our friends
to make sure
they make reservations at Bike It Maui and with no other
Biking company when
they visit Maui, which they'll be doing within the next
several months.
Please tell Koko and Dave that our gang sends them both
our best and thank
them for making our vacation and our experience with Bike
It Maui so
enjoyable and fun. Enclosed you'll find some pictures that
were taken from on
top of the Volcano in which Koko was so kind enough to take
for us and also
our family picture taken last Christmas in which Koko will
get a big kick out of.
I've also enclosed 3 calculators and day planners from my
company, so if you
wouldn't mind, please give one of each to Koko and Dave
and keep a calcutator
and day planner for yourself.
Thanks again Petra and thank you and Bike it Maui for a
great time.
Warmest Regards,

Dear Petra,
We just got back from our vacation to Maui tonight, and
wanted to e-mail you and tell you that we had a fantastic
time on our bike ride down Haleakala with Koko and Lucas.
We observed other bike companies with huge groups and leaders
screaming at their groups - but Koko and Lucas treated us
like VIP's! They were very kind and very professional. At
one point in the ride there is a sharp turn, and Lucas stopped
our group ahead of the turn and warned us to proceed slowly.
While he was talking to our group, another large group raced
by, and one of the riders almost went off the side of the
mountain because the group was going too fast. In places
where it was safe, Lucas and Koko let us ride faster, but
always kept us informed about what type of road conditions
would be coming up. They were great!!
They called in our breakfast order to Charlie's ahead of
time, and the food was just being placed on the table as
we arrived. They showed us pineapple fields, sugar cane
fields, beautiful flowers, an old church, and also made
a couple of stops for pictures. It was a great time, and
we wanted you to know what professional, kind, and FUN employees
you have in Lucas and Koko. They made the ride down Haleakala
great for our entire family!
Thanks again!

Subject: Koko is the Best
I wanted to tell you and everyone else
what an awesome time my wife and I had on your bike tour.
Not knowing which bike company to choose, I almost booked
a company that lets you go at your own pace and doesn’t
take you all the way to the top of the mountain. That
would have been a HUGE mistake on my part! Fortunately
we booked Bike It Maui and had a wonderful time. Our driver,
Koko, was the best!!! He did a fabulous job keeping us
awake and entertained on the way up the mountain which
is a huge plus when it’s that early in the morning.
Koko also got us up so that we were 3rd in line to go
down the mountain….you definitely don’t want
to have to wait on a bunch of groups in front of you when
it’s time to ride. One of the other leaders also
took us up to a more secluded area to watch the sun rise.
While everyone else was packed in like a bunch of cows
trying to watch the sun, we had an almost private view.
Little tips like those definitely put you ahead of the
competition. We really enjoyed the breakfast after the
bike ride with the coconut syrup. For all of those who
are trying to decide which company to choose for the bike
ride, book Bike It Maui and you’ll definitely have
a good time. Koko, thanks again for going back to get
my camera that fell out of my pocket….you rock!

from my beautiful island to your beautiful island………………………………..
Let me begin by saying that the people working at Bike
It Maui make you the premier company you are. Also, your
focus on safety sets you apart from other biking companies.
Lead by Dave and sheltered in the rear from descending
cars by KoKo we felt safe and protected because of their
commitment to safeguarding their valuable assets, The
Blueberries. For those of us who became apprehensive during
the accent to Haleakala Crater, KoKo and Dave’s
sensitivity, patience and reassurance put our uneasiness
to rest. Only KoKo and Dave could turn a bike excursion
into a bike exploration. I can’t thank them enough
for the exciting journey and the opportunity to view your
spectacular sunrise and picturesque Maui from 10,000 feet.
These memories will last a lifetime.

Subject: An Amazing Experience
Hi there. Just wanted to let you know what a great time
we had on our bike experience on May 14 with Ralph and Lucas.
I was pretty worried about how I would manage, not having
biked much for years and just a little afraid of heights,
but the trip was great. Once we made it through a couple
of turns - it was no problem. Ralph and Lucas were great
too - very smart and reassuring, a great pair to spend the
day with. The whole trip was just incredible - seeing the
volcano and being above the clouds (we rode through clouds!)
was almost unreal. I have recommended Bike It Maui to several
people that will be in Maui soon. Thanks again for a great
day.

Hi Petra, Ralph,
and Lucas.
Greetings from cold and rainy Canada. We're staying warm
by remembering what a great time we had biking down the
volcano. Led by free-spirited Lucas, and followed closely
by the ever vigilant Ralph, we had an incredible day and
made memories that will last a lifetime. Our trip biking
down Haleakala was the highlight of our trip to your beautiful
island. Hard to describe the thrill of actually biking THROUGH
a cloud. The views as we descended from 10,000 feet were
breathtaking. Lunch at Charley's, in the lovely little town
of Paia, was the perfect end to a perfect day.
Ralph is truly an ambassador of aloha. While making our
way to the crater, he pointed out sights, and spun stories
about places along the way. Lucas - what can you say about
Lucas - a great spirit - fun, sweet, and another wonderful
testament to the spirit of aloha.
Our only regret about taking the tour will be that we may
never find anything to top it!
Mahalo and aloha.

I
was dubious about the ride. I thought because I’m
not a sporty type person that I would not be able to do
it or perhaps that I would hold others up on the ride.
Putting my doubts aside I throw caution to the wind and
‘biked it’. Koko and Lucas were professional
and vigilant, making sure we had a safe and enjoyable
experience. Koko was a scream! Ride or no ride, meeting
Koko (a man that certainly loves his heritage) and Lucas
(a young females heart throb!) was rewarding in itself.
Thanks guys. Our group could tell that we had the best
guides out of all of the operators there. Undoubtedly,
‘bike it’ was the highlight of my Hawaiian
holiday.

Just returned from our Hawaiian vacation
and had to tell you that our Bike Tour was the highlight
of the vacation. Our guide Koko was the best part. I got
a little motion sickness on the way up and he took such
good care of me and then he kept the group entertained
the rest of the day. We made many memories that will last
forever and I don't think I'll ever forget Koko and Lucas.
They did a great job and I'd definately recommend this
to my friends. We heard other people say their guide was
the best but we know that we had THE BEST CREW in Maui!
Keep up the good work and if we get back to Hawaii, we'll
give you a call!

My wife & I were in Maui for our 10yr Anniversary.
This trip was an experience we will never forget!! The
views from the top of Haleakala were breathtaking! The
sky before dawn was incredible, it was better than any
planetarium! The sunrise was amazing to see over the crater,
walking up to the very top was worth it, a truly rememberable
sight! As far as your staff, KoKo & Dave were fantastic!
They made sure that the novice riders and the experienced
bikers had a fun safe ride! My wife was nervous about
riding such a long way, but afterward she was not the
least bit tired, and very pleased we did it! Attached
is are pictures you are welcome to use on you website.
Please
make sure Koko & Dave get this note, it was their
knowledge and understanding of the mountain that made

My wife and I were in Maui last week for
our honeymoon and decided to try the Sunrise bike ride
down Haleakala. We were told by friends that we had to
do it, but no one told us which company to go with. Well
I can say that we are extremely happy that we chose Bike
It Maui, from the time we were picked up at our hotel
we were made to feel right at home. Our driver was Koko
and he kept us laughing the entire trip, and our guide
was David. For me it wasn't just about the bike ride down
the volcano...we could have done that with any company.
It was the entire experience of getting picked up at our
hotel so we didn't have to drive up there ourselves, it
was waiting for the sun to rise and Koko adding commentary
to our vacation video, it was Dave's professionalism during
the ride, it was breakfast at Charley's at the end, and
it was meeting a bunch of great people in our group. We
did this on our last day in Maui and I don't think there
would have been a better way to end our honeymoon than
the way we did. Thank you to Koko and Dave, and thank
you to your company for making our trip a memorable one.
